Special Ops working together
The players identify with their ops. Each player takes the position of one of the seven unique special ops, each having his own special abilities. The team of special ops gets an assignment and the mission starts. Mission goals can be to eliminate terrorist leaders, save hostages or to dismantle bombs. Read more about this in the game set up.
The players must work together to make the mission succesfull by attaining the mission goals and by preventing casualties under civilians. And staying alive in the mission is also important...
If you like it hot: traitor mode!
Time is one of your enemies. The threats surrounding the ops are booby traps, bombs and terrorists. Some of them have rather nasty habits. There are terrorists with sniper abilities or bazooka's. Terrorist leaders may be very hard to get too. Read all about it on the threat-page. To make it even harder, some player groups like to play with a traitor to increase the tension even further. Countdown Special Ops provides you with a traitor mode for this purpose. The traitor may jeopardize the mission so you need to find out who is the traitor in time, or else the mission could fail. But taking out the wrong player makes the situation even more critical!
Advanced play: create your own mission
Countdown special ops has a 100% modular game set up, which allows you to decide many things. As a result each mission is very different in targets, threats, location and of course the choices your team makes. This endless game variance results in a high replayability of Countdown. A single mission is just a bit more than 30 minutes of play. A succesfull campaign could be played in almost 2 hours. But the risk margin in a succesfull campaign is really tight, resulting in tactics which bring your team of ops to the edge. Experienced players may decide to set up their own single mission, campaign or scenario. Take this challenge and try to finish a campaign succesfully from the first level, all the way up to the highest level. And try to stay alive.
Realtime mode: nerve-racking
If you play the boardgame Countdown Special Ops realtime, use the timer to add a countdown in real time. Now your team must be very efficient and effective at the same time, feel the experience of actually being in the mission, check with your team members and push forward to get the mission done, within the limited time frame of only 30 minutes of mission time.
Experiencing Countdown Special Ops will be a blast.
